Dimensions: 350 mm x 350 mm
Materials: Ceramic, glaze, wire, polymer
2008
Another of my tensegrity series. This one has six ceramic pieces suspended from each other by fine wire. The glaze is a white bead glaze over a matt black glaze.
In solving problems, both technical and artistic, I find it helps to think "How would I do it the other way round?". Often just figuring out what "the other way round" might mean for the current problem, leads to new solutions. I first tried to construct a similar piece with the points facing outward, but the structure collapsed inwards. Both this piece and "Branching Out" were developed from this collapse.
